Classic Canadian Scalloped Potatoes.

Potatoes in general are eaten and enjoyed all around the world, potatoes are very versatile, and you can go in so many ways with them. One of the ways we are going in today is a very nice classic way. I hope you get to enjoy it as much as I do.

 Classic Canadian Scalloped Potatoes.

Things you need:

1/2 cup butter.
2 cloves garlic minced.
3/4 cup regular/all purpose flour.
1 tsp fresh or dry thyme.
1/2 tsp salt.
1/2 tsp ground white pepper.
2 1/2 cups milk.
1/3 cup maple syrup.
7 Yukon Gold potatoes.

Execute:

Heat up a sauce pan over a medium heat, then throw in the butter for me I prefer of the butter was straight out from the fridge and the reason it wont melt as fast as a room temp butter, and it wont burn fast. In the butter cook in the garlic until its golden, don’t over cook the garlic otherwise it will turn up to be very bitter and everything will be off. Once its perfectly golden brown throw in the time, salt, and the pepper, cook them for like 10 seconds then throw in the flour, this is very tricky you have to keep on stirring or the flour would burn.

Gradually start pouring the milk in and the maple syrup do not stop whisking and keep whisking over medium high heat until the mixture boils and thickens.

Now for the gold nuggets aka the potatoes, wash, peel and then wash them once more. Slice them thinly and sprinkle them with salt, start laying them in an oven bake dish or a casserole just butter whatever dish you’re going to bake the potatoes in.

You’re going to layer them twice and then add the sauce you made keep on going until you reach the top, the last layer should be the sauce. With a large knife just poke with the potatoes to let the sauce seep in all the way throw.

Cover with tinfoil and bake in 350 degrees oven for 1 hour. Uncover and bake for about 30 minutes or until you have a golden browned surface. Take it out of the oven let it rest for 5 to 8 minutes before serving.

Hope you really enjoy it.
