Honey mustard glazed smoked ham.
Today’s recipe is one that I just love to eat with family gatherings, it is very easy and simple to make. The only thing is that it takes some time to cook.
Honey mustard glazed smoked
ham.
Things you need:
1 (8 to 10 pound pre-smoked ham).
1/2 cup honey.
1/2 dark honey.
1/4 cup of Dijon mustard.
5 tbsp salted butter.
About 25 to 35 cloves.
Execute:
First preheat your oven to 350 degrees and place the rack in
the lowest part of your oven. Now get your ham ready by scoring it. (scoring
means to cut the meat to create a diamond shaped cuts on it.) and don’t forget
to remove any plastic wrapping the ham is wrapped in. Also trim any extra fat off,
but usually if it’s already smoked the extra fat should be already trimmed, if
not just trim it. Once your ham is ready poke each diamond with one clove.
Get your baking tray and line it with tinfoil and parchment
paper and wrap your ham tightly, bake the ham as it is for 35 to 40 minutes,
take out of the oven replace the cloves and discard the already cooked ones. Recover
it again and keep it outside of the oven.
In a saucepan and over a medium heat melt the butter completely,
add the dark honey, add the regular honey mix well until the first boiling
bubble you see then add the Dijon mustard, combine well let it boil for a bit,
just don’t let it burn. Usually takes about 3 to 5 minutes just keep stirring
it every now and then. Set the glaze aside to cool down and you will see once
it cools down it will transform to your amazing sticky luscious sauce.
Increase the temperature of the oven to 400 degrees. Uncover
your ham and brush about 1/4 of cup of the sauce over the ham put it back in
the oven and cook it again for 10 minutes take it out glaze it again bake it
again for another 10 minutes repeat the process for a total of 3 times and the
last time try glazing it with the sauce in the tray cook it for one more time
for 10 minutes and you are done.
You can serve it with
steamed vegetables of you can sauté some carrots and potatoes in a pan with and
add about 2 tbsp of the sauce onto the veggies.
